There is rarely any actual crawling, unless you drink so much that you eventually can no longer remain upright on two feet. There may be some night-time tours on offer in these cities, even some that involve beer tasting and visiting a local pub or two, but these are not pub crawls!
Be prepared to walk Pub crawling involves getting from one pub to another on foot and, usually, getting drunker as you go. Typically, the best pub crawls in Europe involve visiting 5 or 6 venues, including at least 1 nightclub, but these may not necessarily be in very close proximity to each other, so be prepared to walk a bit. Pace yourself The best pub crawls always include free drinks — free shots, a free welcome beer, or an hour of unlimited free alcohol, as well as exclusive discounts on additional drinks so it is very easy to get real drunk, real fast!
Be careful, drink sensibly and responsibly, and know your limit. Be sure to know what the plan for the night is. Ask your guides what are the bars your visiting and how are you getting there. The guides are always doing their best to gather everyone before leaving each venue. However, during the night you will almost surely mingle with the locals and other people visiting the bar. If your group is big, it is almost impossible for the guides to keep track of everyone.
Try to keep that in mind before you get mad on your guides for accidentally leaving you behind. Lastly, but most importantly, stay safe.
Always follow the instruction of your crawl guides and use your common sense. Stay out of the traffic and be careful when crossing the street.
