In , after finding out that Scotty Baldwin was threatening to expose Bobbie's past as a former prostitute in order to keep Luke from being elected Mayor of Port Charles, Ruby went down to pay a visit to Scotty's father Lee Baldwin. Ruby told Lee of Scott's threats and got him fired from Lee's legal practice. During the robbery, Ruby was assaulted and Jagger was shot by the police while trying to escape. Ruby forgave Jagger for his role in the break-in and assault and ended up giving him a room above Kelly's and a job.
In , Ruby met bad girl Elizabeth Webber. Her first impression of Elizabeth was not a good one. Liz had boldly asked for a beer and didn't have identification. Suspecting the teen was underage, Ruby served her a root beer instead.
Eventually Ruby would warm to Elizabeth and give her a job at Kelly's. In Ruby quietly passed away in her sleep. She left Kelly's to her niece and nephew Luke and Bobbie. More Profiles : Read up on dozens of other past and present GH characters.
IT's Thursday!! November is marching on and on The Savoy.. Chase talks to Brook Lynn. Poor Brook can't even get a fancy blazer Kelly's Diner and Waterfront Boarding House.
What could be better? Rose: Hi, I'm your stepmom. Do you know the year Kelly's started? Way back in !! Hey days of Luke and Laura!! GH needed a hang ou and this fit the bill. The Bucket of Blood was a bar in town and a lot of the 'chit chat' took place in the Hospital cafeteria.
The owners were Paddy and Rose Kelly. Did you know that Luke was hired as a waiter in the early days?? Paddy was killed in what else a mob war and Rose sold the joint to our beloved Ruby, Aunt of Bobbie and Luke. She dispensed Chili and advice to everyone.
When Ruby passed away in , the diner went to Luke and Bobbie. For a few years, Tammy Hansen was the manager. Then Mike Corbin took over.
Today, there is no day to day "manager" much to my sadness. Kelly's is still a great place for hanging out and even has crayons and butcher paper on the table to keep everyone occupied. This is a common practice in the world of daytime television, where money must be split in multiple ways to keep a show solvent.
But that doesn't mean that the occasional onscreen disaster or storyline-driven impetus doesn't result in some new digs for the characters. In November of , the show blew up its set for the bar The Floating Rib, resulting in multiple character casualties and the possibility of the arrival of a new locale for the characters to hang out in.
Familiar sights can be soothing ones ABC.
